Italian Company “Mapei Egypt” For Construction Chemicals Inaugurates its Factory in 10th of Ramadan City, within Elsewedy Industrial City, with Investments Exceeding $25 Million
In a strategic move that reflects growing confidence in the Egyptian market, Mapei Egypt for Construction Chemicals, a subsidiary of the global Italian group Mapei, has officially inaugurated its new manufacturing facility for chemicals in 10th of Ramadan City. The factory is located in the “Industria East – Al-Robiki” industrial zone, at Plot No. 8, Sector H, within Elsewedy Industrial City—a flagship development by Elsewedy Industrial Development.
This factory marks Mapei’s first industrial expansion in Egypt. It spans an area of 28,000 square meters, with phase one investments amounting to approximately $25 million and a production capacity reaching 100,000 tons annually. The facility has already created around 100 direct jobs, with plans to double production capacity and workforce in the near future.
During the event, Mapei representatives reaffirmed the group’s commitment to the Egyptian market, emphasizing that this milestone marks the beginning of a broader export expansion strategy targeting African and neighboring countries. They highlighted Egypt’s strategic location and robust infrastructure as key enablers of this growth. Mr. Stefano Iannacone, Regional Director of Mapei Group, expressed his gratitude for the significant support and facilitation provided by the Egyptian government and the General Authority for Investment, which eased the process of land allocation and factory establishment.
In his speech, Mr. Andrea Berrini noted that Mapei, founded in Italy in 1937, is today a world leader in the production of adhesives, sealants, and chemical products for the building industry. He added that the group currently operates through over 102 subsidiaries in 57 countries, with 90 manufacturing facilities in 35 countries, 32 research centers in 20 countries, and a workforce exceeding 11,900 employees worldwide. Mapei’s consolidated global sales reached €4 billion in 2022.
Mr. Berrini also highlighted that the product lines manufactured at the Mapei Egypt plant cater to a wide range of needs in the construction and infrastructure sectors. These include products for sports flooring, flexible and woven floorings, ceramic and porcelain tiles, concrete structural reinforcement, waterproofing and thermal insulation systems, cement additives, concrete admixtures, and underground construction solutions—further strengthening Egypt’s position as a competitive industrial and export hub in the region.
This new industrial project stands as a significant outcome of the partnership between the local and international private sectors. It not only underscores the attractiveness of the Egyptian market for foreign investment but also reinforces Elsewedy Industrial City’s role as a fully integrated industrial hub attracting major global manufacturers.
